ISO 14068-1 – Verifiable Carbon Neutrality Standard

ISO 14068-1 is the global standard for certifying carbon neutrality in organizations and products. It provides a comprehensive framework to help businesses reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and achieve carbon neutrality through clear guidelines for measurement, reduction, and offsetting.

About the ISO 14068-1 Standard

This standard enables companies to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability with transparency and scientific credibility. It builds on existing GHG standards, such as those for GHG quantification and product carbon footprints, creating a unified approach to achieving carbon neutrality and net-zero goals. ISO 14068-1 may be used by any organization, large or small, in any sector. It requires that all greenhouse gases are considered, not just carbon dioxide, and that a full value chain or life cycle approach to GHG emissions is used where possible.

ISO 14068-1 also addresses the growing number of carbon neutrality claims by establishing clear, verifiable criteria to prevent greenwashing. By adopting this framework, organizations can confidently showcase their environmental efforts, secure independent verification, and meet regulatory requirements.
